Making Of Our Own Lotería

La versión en español

Las dos primeras cartas son las más importantes del juego: ¡somos nosotros! La primera carta dice “make”, que significa “esposo” en sueco y representa a Suecia. La carta número 2 es la esposa, “La esposa” en español, representando a México. A lo largo del mazo de Lotería, cada carta tiene su “compañero”; la 1 y la 2 somos mi esposa y yo; la 3 y la 4 son mi nombre maya y el nombre de mi esposa, etc.

Como no soy ilustrador profesional, tuvimos que pedir ayuda a uno de nuestros amigos. Para estas dos cartas contacté al talentoso Mike Strandberg. A Mike se le dio la idea de nuestro pastel de bodas y creó la ilustración a partir de eso. Yo añadí algunos detalles, como el brillo en mi cabeza y la sombra bajo mis pies, y nada más.

The English Version

The first two cards are the most important cards in the game: it is us! The first card says “make” which means “husband” in Swedish, it represents Sweden. Card number 2 is the wife, “La esposa” in Spanish representing Mexico. Throughout the Lotería deck each card has its “companion”, 1 and 2 are me and my wife, 3 and 4 is my Mayan name and my wife’s name etc.

Since I’m not an professional illustrator we had to ask one of our friends to help us. For these two cards I reached out to the talented, Mike Strandberg. Mike was given the idea from our wedding cake and created the illustration from that. I added some details such as the highlight on my head and the shadow under my feet, that’s all.
